New team regulations brought in place for the 2014 season to ensure a rise on the size of the numbers on the grids, all teams must now run two cars every weekend, whereas before they had been permitted to run just the one. This new rule has benefitted many, including Cong Fu Cheng, or Frankie, as he's known within the team. Cheng spent the majority of last season testing, developing and learning the DGR car, but due to Alex Lloyd's increasingly impressive performances, he never got the chance to race it. But with DGR running a two car team this season, and having already signed an experienced hand to lead the team in the form of Raphael Matos, Cheng was a shoe-in for the second seat. Having spent last season intergrating himself within the car, and learning the controls and skills required, the pressure will be on Cheng to perform from the start. Not just because more is expected of DGR this season after last season's exploits, but Cheng has had a very mediocre track record in the junior formulae, so he'll be pushing to prove his doubters wrong early on. Realistically, Frankie can't be expected to be fighting for top track positions this year, but provided he shows his skills, and even scores a point or two, he'll be welcomed to the grid.
